LG brings high-speed AMD tech to its curved monitor

LG's new Ultra HD monitor is the first 21:9 to use AMD's FreeSync technology.

Ultra wide and ultra sharp, the 34UC87M is set to deliver a fast gaming experience without sacrificing image integrity. LG

Not to be outdone by Nvidia's efforts, LG will be the first monitor vendor to bring AMD's FreeSync monitor technology to a 21:9 display.

Freesync is AMD's answer to Nvidia's G-Sync, which diminishes on-screen tearing and input lag in games by better syncing the display with the graphics card inside your PC.

The 34UC87M is a 34-inch monitor with a 3,440x1,440 resolution and an IPS screen, which delivers a 178-degree viewing angle. It also features a Thunderbolt 2 connection for fast file transfers with Macs.

LG is also introducing a 4K display, the 31MU97, with a resolution a bit higher than your typical 4K display -- 4,096x2,160 instead of 3,840x2,160.

Currently there's no release date or pricing for either of the two monitors, but look for more information soon.
