New York startup LittleBits unveiled its new Smart Home Kit on Tuesday, which lets do-it-yourselfers create their own connected devices around the house. The kit is available online for $249 and arrives at RadioShack locations next month.
CNET visited LittleBits headquarters to check out some of the things the company has made with the new kit.
The new kit includes 14 modules (or Bits), that can be combined to create different electronics. The kit includes a tiny MP3 player, a temperature sensor, an IR transmitter and a number counter. The kit includes the company's cloudBit, which allows a user to connect objects to their smartphone or tablet. There's also a new AC switch that can be used to control a wall outlet using LittleBits circuits to turn lights and fans on and off.
