iOS 9 include majors improvement and features.
The first improvement: Intelligence and Siri.
You now can create a reminder using natural language.
With the improvement, the iPhone can be a proactive assistant.
It can automatically play the right type of music for your morning run.
Or remind you when to leave for an appointment to be on time.
Search and Siri offer suggestions on whom you should contact for meetings, apps you should download, apps you use this time of day and easy one-tap links to locations nearby.
You can also perform search with natural language.
Privacy at heart: All of the searches perform on the phone, via Siri or not, are done anonymously, not associated with Apple ID, randomized identifier, and not linked to other Apple services.
Second improvement: Apple Pay
Apple Pay is now accepted at more and more retailers with the total surpassing over 1 million locations by July.
Apple Pay will also be available in the UK in July.
One of the first services in the UK that accepts Apple Pay is the London public transportation system.
With iOS 9, Passbook is now renamed Wallet. One place for all payment cards, including vendor-specific cards.
Third improvement: Note.
Note now has a toolbar and a check list within itself.
It can also store drawings.
Note will also support Air Drop for sharing.
Fourth improvement: Maps
Apple says Apple Maps sees 5 billion user requests per week, some 3.5 times higher than for next leading mapping app.
New Maps now supports public transit with a map that emphasizes the different transit lines. Tapping on a station will bring up all the transit lines that go through it.
And you can use Siri to search for directions using natural language.
The new Transit feature of Maps supports multiple major US cities.
First new app: News.
Among other things, the News app personalizes feeds for you from a variety of news sources.
iOS 9 brings about many improvement for the iPad.
The first is the ability to use two fingers to drag and select text.
When hooked to an external keyboard, you now can use familiar keyboard shortcuts.
And multitasking is now supported. You can view multiple screens of different apps at a time.
And even watch a video while reading news, via the new picture-in-picture feature.
Split-screen is also supported in iOS 9.
iOS 9 promises to improve battery life. It has a new low-power mode that would increase the battery life by another 3 hours.
The over-the-air update is now also improved with the total download size of just 1.5GB instead of some 3.5GB as with iOS 8.
CarPlay is also improved with support for third-party apps, different screen sizes and better ease of use.
iOS 9 also comes with a new version of Swift, a popular programming language.
Swift will also go open-source.
iOS 9 is slated to be out this fall and will be compatible with all devices supported by iOS 8.
