On Wednesday,  Sony's PlayStation 2 celebrated its ninth birthday. And while Sony is already three years into its PlayStation 3 era, the PS2 is still moving more than 100,000 units a month.

One reason it still sells so well is that publishers are still putting out games for the platform, and all told, there have been nearly 10,000 titles for the PS2.

Still, some titles have risen above, often far above, the others. These are the top 10 bestsellers, according to VGChartz.com.

Coming in at No. 1, not surprisingly, is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The game that got its publisher, Rockstar Games, in deep water for the hidden inclusion of adults-only content--the scandal known as "Hot Coffee"--GTA: SA, as it's sometimes known, sold 18.05 million units worldwide since it was released on October 26, 2004.

Sony's own Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec came in at No. 2, with 14.89 million units sold since its July 9, 2001, release.

Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, released on October 28, 2002, has sold 14.2 million units, good for third place.

The third of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto titles to finish in the top-ten best-selling PS2 games of all time, Grand Theft Auto III, sold 11.6 million units since it was released on October 23, 2001.

Another franchise with multiple titles in the top 10, Gran Turismo 4, from Sony Computer Entertainment of America, has sold 10.36 million units since coming out on February 22, 2005, good for fifth place.

Square Enix's Final Fantasy X came in at No. 6 with 7.95 million units sold for the PS2 since its December 17, 2001, release.

Electronic Arts' Need for Speed: Undercover, released on November 17, 2003, is in seventh place. It has sold 6.49 million units.

EA also has a franchise with two titles in the top 10. Its Need for Speed: Undercover 2, which came out on November 15, 2004, sold 6.38 million units.

EA's Medal of Honor: Frontline holds the ninth spot in the top 10 list. Since its May 28, 2002, release, the game has sold 6.29 million units.

It is the only title in the top 10 that doesn't have any others from its franchise also on the list.
