Who needs Facebook friends when there's Kirobo?

Facebook continues its quest to become a community classifieds section with the mobile Marketplace. But nothing you'll find for sale will ever be as cool as Toyota's Kirobo Mini.

Again with the selling push, Facebook? The social network wants to be your online yard sale destination, as it opened up Marketplace for anyone to buy or sell items. This time, there's no need to seek out permission to join a special selling group. As today's CNET Update explains, this is not the first time Facebook tried to take down eBay and Craigslist. But maybe with a mobile push, it could take off.

Also in our afternoon Update report, Toyota is working on something much more interesting than anything you'll find for sale on Facebook. The automaker is selling its first companion robot, Kirobo Mini. At 4 inches tall, it'll make small talk about food while never breaking eye contact, get paranoid that you're leaving him behind in the car, and ask why you're not smiling.
