If you're in the market for high-capacity and superfast miniSD cards, Western Digital has something to offer. The company announced today two new 256GB miniSD cards, the SanDisk Extreme microSDXC UHS-I and the SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Premium Edition.

According to Western Digital, the SanDisk Extreme card (MSRP $199.99) is for pro users and has a read speed of up to 100MB/s and a write speed of up to 90MB/s. This means you can transfer its entire 256GB of storage, which is enough to store some 14 hours of 4K content, in less than 50 seconds. This card is ideal for action cameras, drones and 4K-capable smartphones and will be available in the last quarter of the year.

The SanDisk Ultra card (MSRP $149.99) on the other hand is ideal for general users, Western Digital says. It has a read speed of up to 95MB/s, allowing you to transfer some 1,200 photos in about one minute. It will be available in August.

Keep in mind that either card will work with any application where a high-capacity miniSD card is supported. Basically, if you're one of those storage-anxious users, these new cards are for you. Both of the cards are also waterproof, temperature-proof, shock proof and X-ray proof.
