UE Bluetooth speakers add Siri, Google voice commands

A fresh firmware update lets you command Ultimate Ears' bestselling portable Bluetooth speakers just by using your voice.

Ultimate Ears Megaboom Bluetooth speakers, now voice-activated.

Add Ultimate Ears speakers to the growing list of gadgets that you can control with your voice.

The UE Boom 2 and UE Megaboom Bluetooth speakers can now be controlled by voice commands alone, thanks to the latest firmware update released today. When paired with Android phones and iPhones, the speakers will respond to "OK Google" and "Hey Siri" commands, respectively.

Unfortunately, you can't trigger the voice-activation mode with just the commands, though: you'll need to press the Bluetooth button to put the speaker in "listening" mode. (Both speakers have microphones thanks to their existing speakerphone capabilities.)

The updated app is available today as a free download for Android and iOS owners of the UE Boom 2 and Megaboom. Be sure to keep up with our reviews for both speakers, too -- we'll be updating the reviews to reflect this new feature soon.
