It's pretty exciting to know there are people out there actively trying to create tech from our favorite movies and TV shows, and Dr. Peter Jansen is one such person. He's been working on recreating the functionality of the "Star Trek" tricorder, and the Arducorder is his most recent prototype.
We're also talking about the Myst TV series reportedly in development; what '90s PC game would you want to see resurrected into a show?
Tomorrow Daily 068 [mp3]: An Arduino tricorder, a potential Myst TV show, and RomoCart racing
Here are some links and notes for all the things on the show today:
- Arducorder is an open-source tricorder with over 10 sensors onboard
- RomoCart is a living room "hack" that projects interactive race tracks onto your living room floor
- New releases: Fury, The Book of Life, and The Evil Within
- User feedback: Your #TDSpaceHotel responses, and our Phonetographer of the Day
