We won't have to wait too long to once again see FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully exploring alien activity. Fox announced Monday that aof "The X-Files" would debut on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016.
That debut date is significant, as it gives the hotly anticipated miniseries prime air time on Fox immediately after the NFC championship game, which is expected to have about 49.6 million viewers.
While certainly not everyone who watches the game will stick around to watch "The X-Files," the ratings should be, well, out of this world. The series was eerily popular the first time around, when it ran from September 1993 to May 2002. After the first episode's special debut on a Sunday, the next episode will run the following day on Monday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. ET, which will serve as the series' official time slot for the duration.
What will our favorite FBI agents be like in the world of smartphones, tablets and wearables after a 13-year hiatus? Will they every find "the truth?" We'll find out in January 2016.
