The stinging pain that accompanies paper cuts seems out of all proportion with the size of the wound. But, as it turns out, there are some very good reasons as to why paper cuts hurt as much as they do.

Scientific American's Ferris Jabr has broken down in detail the multiple reasons (multiple!) why that tiny, tiny cut on the tip of your finger is giving you so much grief.
