"I am submitting a formal, friendly request to review this material solely on an informational basis," said Roberto Escobar in a press release Tuesday from Escobar Inc, a company he co-founded in 2014. "It is depicting me, my life, my family and my brother. I think nobody else in the world is alive to determine the validity of the materials, but me."

"Narcos," staring Wagner Moura, is a crime thriller based on the exploits of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. The second season of the Netflix original premieres September 2.

In anyone should already know a thing or two about the subject matter, it's Roberto Escobar.

"Prior to Roberto Escobar being the lead accountant for the Medellín cartel he was at one point the chief of the hitmen," reads the release. After serving time in prison, he registered for successor-in-Interest rights to his brother's name in the State of California.

Escobar, Inc says previous attempts to contact Netflix were not successful. Netflix did not immediately respond to CNET's request for comment.
