AOL Time Warner, Cisco Systems and Yahoo have partnered to create a Web portal designed to help 850,000 charitable groups accept donations via the Web, the companies said Monday. The new portal, called "Network for Good" is designed to expand the reach of nonprofit groups by helping them raise funds, recruit and advocate over the Internet. Visitors to the portal can locate any of the charitable groups using the site's GuideStar database. Another database, VolunteerMatch, will link groups with potential volunteers. The portal will also accept donations on behalf of the groups and pay the credit card transaction fees. This allows the charities to receive 100 percent of the donations.
