Sybase stretches Replication Server

Sybase extends its Replication Server data distribution tool to work with Lotus Notes and mainframe data sources.

Sybase has extended its Replication Server data distribution tool to work with Lotus Notes and mainframe data sources.

The company (SYBS) announced tools that allow its Replication Server to distribute data bidirectionally between the company's SQL Server database and other data sources. Replicating data allows companies to ship copies of centrally stored databases to branch offices or to mobile users, for example.

Replication Agent for Lotus Notes lets data be transferred between Notes databases and corporate data stores. It is priced at $1,600 and up.

Replication Toolkit for IBM's MVS mainframe operating system enables information systems developers to build custom replication links between IBM mainframe-based data and other systems. Pricing starts at $35,000.

Sybase also said it is now beta testing Replication Agents for IMS and VSAM, a replication tool to link IBM's legacy data sources into new and existing applications. No pricing has been announced. Shipment is planned for December.
