Sony joins wireless standards group

Sony Coroporation has joined the board of directors of the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA). Sony is the first of WECA's board members to be headquartered in Asia. WECA was formed in 1999 to create a standard way for Wi-Fi equipment to operate. Its seal of approval is on Wi-Fi equipment made by at least 82 different companies, including Microsoft, Proxim and Cisco.
