We first met Okilly Dokilly, a Ned Flanders-themed heavy metal band, back in 2015. The group, which performs in Flanders costumes, is dropping its debut album, "Howdilly Doodilly," this month. A bizarre music video for the song "White Wine Spritzer" gives us a taste of what's to come.
If you need a refresher, Flanders is the left-handed, do-gooder religious neighbor on "The Simpsons." The song's inspiration comes from a "Simpsons" scene where Flanders changes his Shirley Temple drink order to a much more daring (for him) white wine spritzer.
An ear-spiking guitar riff, fierce drumming and screaming vocals power the song as the polo-shirt and sweater-wearing band destroys the set and descends into violent madness. The video takes a dark, dark turn before wrapping up with Okilly Dokilly backlit by what appears to be a flaming couch. That's a fitting reference to opening couch gag bits on "The Simpsons."
As a band, Okilly Dokilly seems dedicated to tearing down everything Ned Flanders stands for, which makes the group all the more strangely compelling.
