Short: Tricord acquires file system

Tricord Systems has acquired distributed file system technology assets from Pasadena, Calif.-based Reliable Distributed Information (RDI). The software technology offers users a single image of files stored in a variety of places in a distributed network, particularly useful as server vendors like Tricord develop clustered systems. As part of the agreement, former RDI CEO and CTO Alexander Frey will become Tricord's vice president of architecture, overseeing development of the company's next-generation Intel Pentium Pro microprocessor-based systems.
