Short Take: Wireless data start-up MobileID launches

MobileID, a wireless data start-up offering free mobile phone-based access to email and content, has launched its service. MobileID plans to make money on premium services and e-commerce transactions. The company, which has received an undisclosed amount of venture capital funding from Asia Tech Management, is planning a second round of funding early this summer. MobileID's chief executive is David Hayden, a former wireless industry analyst, said the company intends to target the consumer market via partnerships with companies such as CellMania.com. MobileID also is expected to announce dozens of content partners at the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association's annual conference in late February.
