Short Take: Williams Communications offers bandwidth to ISPs

Williams Communications, a wholesale telecommunications carrier, has begun offering wholesale bandwidth to Internet service providers at T1, T3, and OC-3 speeds. The new offering, called Internet Service Provider Transit Services, is the first of Williams' Internet offerings which will include dedicated access, DSL, remote access, and virtual private networking in 1999. Williams is building a new 32,000 mile fiber-optic nationwide network, and to date has completed about 18,000 miles.
