Web-based business data and news firm WavePhore announced it has acquired eWatch, a company that monitors online public discussion and Web sites. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Companies use eWatch to uncover insider trading, stock manipulation, and rumors that might adversely affect their stock. More than 600 companies, including IBM and US West, have used eWatch to help them accurately track what appears on the Internet each day.
