Short Take: Sonus posts third-quarter loss

Sonus Networks, a maker of Internet-based voice equipment, Wednesday topped expectations by reporting a loss, excluding stock compensation charges, of $5.4 million, or 4 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $5.9 million, or 38 cents a share, for the same quarter a year ago. Wall Street expected the company to lose 6 cents a share, according to First Call/Thomson Financial. Quarterly revenue increased to $15.6 million compared with no revenue a year ago and $6.5 million last quarter. Sonus added Time Warner Telecom and PointOne Telecommunications as customers during the quarter.
