Silicon Graphics has released new load-balancing software to boost performance on high-traffic Web sites. WebForce Director, part of SGI's Everest initiative, aims to help ISPs and Web supersites optimize high-traffic, multiple-server sites running data-intensive applications. It provides Web hosting services and large sites with an intelligent, flexible, rules-based, load-balancing solution. Web servers managed by WebForce Director can run on Unix, Windows NT, and Macintosh.
