The Santa Cruz Operation announced that its new Tarantella application broker software will ship next month. The new software allows users to access any new or existing software application with a Java-enabled client. Client types supported by SCO include PCs, Unix workstations, and network computers (NCs). The Tarantella software will be offered as a layer on top of SCO's UnixWare operating system as well as Sun Microsystems' Solaris. Prices start at $395 for a single-user license and decrease based on volume. Support for other Unix flavors as well as Windows NT is expected next year.
