Short Take: Palo Alto votes for fast Net

The Palo Alto city council voted to begin trials of fiber-to-the-home Net service for about 70 city residents. The experiment, which should begin service in a little more than a year, promises Internet access speeds of up to 100 Mbps. The city also will seek a new partner to help expand use of the $2 million fiber optic ring that already circles the community.
