Short Take: NorthPoint doubles DSL lines in fourth quarter

NorthPoint Communications, a wholesale provider of high-speed digital subscriber line Net connections, ended 1999 with 23,500 subscribers, doubling the 11,800 lines the company claimed as of Sept. 30. NorthPoint finished the year serving 33 major metropolitan U.S. markets, ahead of the 28 markets it initially promised, and has plans to serve 60 markets by the end of 2000. At the end of the year, 31 million homes and businesses had access to NorthPoint DSL.
