Short Take: Network security program prepares for new Mac OS

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology today announced it is working with Apple to bring a full implementation of its Kerberos network security system to the upcoming Mac OS X. Kerberos, an established open security standard, was created by MIT in the mid-1980s to apply strong cryptography standards to network connections. After a client and server has used Kerberos to prove their identity, they can encrypt all of their communications to assure privacy and data integrity.
