Short Take: Microsoft expects short-term loss from Internet services

Microsoft will have spent $400 million this year to develop content for the Internet and plans to spend nearly as much in each of the next few years, the Wall Street Journal reported. The Internet services include Microsoft Network, MSNBC, and other online outposts. The newspaper quoted the company's executive vice president as saying Microsoft did not expect to register a profit until after making that level of investment.
