Short Take: Intel offers combination PC card

Intel introduced a notebook PC card that combines a LAN adapter and a modem. Called the PRO/100 LAN+Modem56 PC Card, the card incorporates a 10/100-mbps Ethernet adapter and a 56-kbps modem, and also includes an installation program that automatically configures the notebook, modem, and network operating system. The card is available for $389, or in packages of 20 for $369 each.
