General Instruments reported first quarter revenues of $641,271, up slightly from $615,762 for the same quarter a year ago. Net income was $27 million, or 20 cents per share, before restructuring charges and $18 million, or 13 cents per share, after the charges. By comparison, net income for the first quarter of 1996 was $31 million, or 25 cents per share.
