Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, a provider of voice and email messaging software for phone carriers, accused rival Kana Communications of infringing on one of its technology patents, according to a Bloomberg report. In a suit filed last week in U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Delaware, Genesys alleges Kana implemented technology covered in a 1998 patent for routing email in its Kana CMS 3.0 messaging system software, according to the report. Genesys was recently acquired by European communications equipment maker Alcatel for approximately $1.5 billion.
