Gadzoox Networks has acquired SmartSAN Systems for about $23.5 million, bolstering its range of products used to assemble special-purpose networks devoted to storage devices. Gadzoox, which went public in July 1999, now will be able to sell equipment to connect so-called storage area networks (SANs) with each other and with other networks.
