Short Take: E*Trade to offer free DSL

Electronic brokerage E*Trade will begin providing free high-speed Internet connections to its premium customers, making it the latest company to attempt to entice users with free Net access. E*Trade will offer free digital subscriber lines (DSL) to its Power E*Trade Platinum subscribers who make more than 75 trades per month beginning in early April. The DSL connections, which are up to 50 times faster than dial-up modems, will allow E*Trade's best customers to access financial data quickly. E*Trade has partnered with SBC Communications and Concentric Network to offer the DSL service.
