Short Take: Covad to offer VoDSL, extend Nokia deal

Covad Communications, an upstart wholesale provider of high-speed digital subscriber lines (DSL), will offer local voice-over-DSL service via partnerships with GST Telecommunications. The companies will target small business customers seeking multiple phone lines. Separately, Covad has extended its existing deal with Nokia under which the Finnish telecommunications company will supply Covad with more than $100 million in DSL equipment capable of serving 750,000 new DSL lines.
