Short Take: Companies develop videoconferencing design

Cirrus Logic, Silicon Vision, and VDOnet announced the development of a reference design that will bring low-cost, high-quality videoconferencing to the PC market. It combines the built-in videoconferencing functions of Cirrus Logic's 100-MHz SGRAM-based video/graphics chip, the iVision digital video camera technology of Silicon Vision, and the standards-based VDOPhone software of VDOnet. The reference design allows end users to conduct full-motion, full-color videophone conversations over the Internet, a corporate network, or regular telephone lines.
