Short Take: Comcast sues Broward County, Florida, over open access

A local Comcast cable television franchise has sued Broward County, Florida, over the county's recent ruling requiring cable companies to open their wires to competing Internet service providers. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for Southern Florida, challenges the county's authority to impose an "open access" mandate. A similar ruling involving AT&T in Portland, Oregon, has made its way into a federal appellate court in California. Advocate Communications joined Comcast in the suit.
