Cisco Systems announced new high-density modem cards for its Universal Broadband Routers (uBR) family. The MC16 modem card, based on the Data-over-cable service interface specification (DOCSIS) standard, allows cable operators to provide digital services, including broadband Internet access. The modem cards are designed for use with cable modems, voice-over-IP devices, and set-top boxes. The new cards cost $30,250 and will be available in December.
