Short take: Ascend access software

Ascend Communications announced a new line of access software for both desktops and the company's remote access hardware. Called Intragy, the new tools allow for multi-protocol routing, including support for IPX and AppleTalk protocols, as well as bridging capability for support for older environments like SNA. The desktop software runs on Microsoft Windows 3.1, 95, and NT Workstation, as well as the Apple Computer Macintosh. Server-side software for Ascend's MAX 4000 and TNT remote access platforms is priced at $4,000 and $20,000, respectively. The tools will ship next month.
