Short Take: AOL Networks to conduct 56flex tests

America Online subsidiary AOL Networks is planning a field trial of the 56-kbps modem technology developed by Lucent Technologies and Rockwell Semiconductor Systems. The company had originally planned to support only a competing 56-kbps protocol from U.S. Robotics but now will test both. AOL's Rockwell tests are scheduled for this summer in cities to be announced.
