Short Take: AMD releases simulator for Hammer chip

Advanced Micro Devices on Friday released a simulator for its upcoming 64-bit Hammer processor. Announced earlier, the simulator will give software developers and others a chance to make their products compatible with the chip prior to its release. Red Hat Software, among others, has pledged to support Hammer, which is expected to come out at the end of 2001.
