Short: IBM to add SMP support to OS/2, free upgrade

IBM will add symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) support to its OS/2 Warp Server Advanced operating system in an upgrade slated to ship by month's end. The upgrade, available free to OS/2 Warp Server Advanced users, is optimized for two- and four-way SMP systems, but can support up to 64 processors, said IBM. The SMP support should boost performance of Lotus Notes and DB2 database servers.
