Shockwave for Mac poised to debut

Macromedia will post a copy of the beta version of its Shockwave client software for Macintosh platforms on February 5.

Macromedia officials said they will release a beta version of the Shockwave for Director Macintosh plug-in on Monday, February 5.

Originally the company had planned to release an earlier version known internally as a "public beta candidate," but a particularly devious bug pushed the release forward to Monday, according to Heather Rose, Shockwave product manager.

On February 5, the beta version of the Macintosh plug-in will be available for download for free from the company's Web site.
