Just when you thought Sherlock Holmes would never again don "that hat" and Dr. Watson had shaved off his mustache forever, fans finally get to see a bit of video from the upcoming "Sherlock" special.

The "Sherlock" team -- co-creator Steven Moffat, producer Sue Vertue and actor Rupert Graves, who plays Lestrade -- showed off the new footage during their panel about the show at today's San Diego Comic-Con International. (See all CNET's Comic-Con coverage here.)

The video, embedded above, shows Holmes and Watson, played by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, returning home to 221B Baker Street from a long trip away. And Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs) isn't pleased with their sudden arrival.

As usual, Holmes blames his lack of punctuality on dead bodies, Watson gets no respect for his writing, and Mrs. Hudson complains about being treated like a maid.

"I'm your landlady, not a plot device," Mrs. Hudson reminds them.

Those focused on Watson's facial hair will get a nod: "I've had to grow this mustache just so people will recognize me!" he laments.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting any news of the upcoming Victorian-themed special, and this glimpse into this more traditional Sherlock set makes some of us rather giddy.

"Sherlock," of course, features an updated version of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's immortal detective; it's normally set in present-day London. The popular series is due to return with three new episodes for Season 4. "Sherlock" airs on PBS in the US, and on BBC One in the UK. In Australia, streaming video on demand service Stan has the exclusive for the new episodes and it'll be available "within moments" of the global première.
