Segue debuts e-commerce tool

The company's LiveQuality lets companies put e-commerce applications through their paces to check system reliability before a line of code is written.

Segue Software will on Monday debut a tool for testing large scale e-commerce applications before they go live.

Segue's LiveQuality tool lets companies put e-commerce applications through their paces to check system reliability before a line of code is written. The tool can simulate Web users accessing applications so site builders can determine if existing applications can handle the additional load.

LiveQuality includes two separate tools, LiveQuality Producer and LiveQuality Realizer. Producer is a tool for creating system performance tests, while Realizer provides test scenario scheduling, test distribution, monitoring, and manages test results.

LiveQuality's $250,000 starting price also includes systems consulting. The company, in conjunction with IBM, Global Services, and Coopers and Lybrand, will assist companies with installation issues, training, test cases, and performance tests.

The company will offer LiveQuality in four versions. The Web site version is tailored for commercial Web sites, such as online stores and trading locations. FrontOffice and BackOffice are intended for large intranet installations. And InterBusiness is targeted at business-to-business extranets, the company said.

All versions are slated to be available within 60 days.
