SAP readies new supply chain software

Software maker SAP said Monday that it plans to release an enhanced suite of supply chain applications next week. The release of the software, which helps companies plan manufacturing activities based on demand forecasts and factory capacity, is tailored to support the needs of companies in industries including automotive, computing, chemicals, consumer products and petroleum. SAP, which competes with i2 Technologies and Manugistics in the supply chain software market, said that its supply chain applications are gaining in popularity. They accounted for 23 percent of the company's nearly $909 million in software license revenue in the fourth quarter.
