Samsung Galaxy S3 arrives with 4.8-inch screen, hits the UK in May

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been unveiled at last. Click here for all the info on specs, design and features.

Aaaand breathe. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been revealed at long last (look up at that picture! That's it! It's real!), and is confirmed to arrive sporting a mammoth 4.8-inch 720p display, as well as a powerful quad-core processor and Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

We've gone hands-on with the year's most-anticipated Android phone, so be sure to check out our in-depth hands-on preview immediately.

So what's new with the follow-up to the wildly popular Galaxy S2? There's an all-new look, with the S3 ditching its predecessor's rectangular styling in favour or a curved, pebble-like design. As tipped yesterday, the S3 will launch in either dark blue or white (so that's what the splodgy invite was all about!), while rumours that the new mobile would keep its physical home button have also proved genuine.

An 8-megapixel camera can be found lurking around the back, while there's a 2-megapixel snapper facing your phizzog. That front camera will keep a beady eye on you while you're using the phone, and should prevent the S3's display from dimming while you're looking at it. Nifty.

As expected, the processor on board is a quad-core affair clocked at 1.4GHz, which will make the S3 capable of chewing through high resolution video and graphically gruelling games. Stay tuned for the full review, where we'll be squeezing the S3's Exynos processor through our barrage of benchmark tests, to find out exactly how powerful it really is.

Despite being palm-fillingly massive, the S3 is surprisingly slim at 8.6mm thick, and tips the scales at a very modest 133g. It comes in 16, 32 or 64GB versions, and also sports a MicroSD card slot, as well as a removable battery.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich is on board, mutated by Samsung's TouchWiz interface, bringing features like 'pop up play', which lets you ogle video while performing boring tasks like sending texts.

Expect to see Samsung's newest blower on sale within a few weeks -- Samsung tells us the S3 will be out in the UK in late May.

Check the hands-on preview for tonnes more information, and stay tuned for more Galaxy S3 coverage.
