Rambus earnings on track

The company reports second quarter revenues of $9.9 million and looks to later in the year when its memory technology should take off.

Rambus today reported second quarter revenues of $9.9 million, up 2 percent over the same period last year but down 7 percent from the previous quarter.

Revenues for the first six months of fiscal 1999 were $20.4 million, an increase of 7 percent over the same period in fiscal 1998.

Second quarter diluted earnings per share were $0.08 compared to $0.07 in the same period last year and $0.08 in the previous quarter.

After several delays, Intel is now indicating a September launch of its Rambus-based chipset for use in PC memory applications. Rambus anticipates major volume shipments of PCs using the technology will start in the December quarter.

Rambus designs, develops, licenses, and markets high-speed chip-to-chip interface technology to enhance the performance of computers and other systems.
