ZTE, a telephone service provider in China, will be using Qualcomm?s technology in its new phone network, according to Qualcomm. Qualcomm has given ZTE a license to use its version of the code division multiple access (CDMA) chips.
The deal further pushes Qualcomm into the lucrative Asian market for cell phones and cell phones service. Last year, China United Telecommunications (CUT), the second-largest service provider in China, reached a similar licensing agreement with Qualcomm. The company has reached similar agreements with companies in Japan and Korea.
