PS4's The Order: 1886 'well on its way' to meeting sales expectations

"We are very proud of that game, and we are well on our way to achieving the sales performance that we sought," said Ready at Dawn's new CEO, Paul Sams.

Ready at Dawn's PlayStation 4-exclusive The Order: 1886 did not fare very well with critics, but how is the third-person shooter doing commercially? According to the developer's new CEO Paul Sams (more on that later), the game is no slouch.

"While we would love to share with you how well The Order: 1886 has performed since its release, those are numbers that only Sony can divulge," he said in a new interview with Game Informer.

"Suffice it to say, we are very proud of that game, and we are well on our way to achieving the sales performance that we sought," he added.

However, Sams did not share what that sales target was.

The Order: 1886 drummed up a fair amount of controversy over its debatable duration. GameSpot scored the game a 5/10. Reviewer Kevin VanOrd wrote, "The Order: 1886 is boring collection of game cliches that betrays its fascinating premise."

Ready at Dawn, an independent developer based in Irvine, California, also announced today that it has hired Sams as its new CEO. Sams previously worked at World of Warcraft developer Blizzard Entertainment for two decades. Ru Weerasuriya, the studio's co-founder and former CEO, will shift into the role of president and chief creative officer.

Alongside the hiring of Sams, Ready at Dawn has also opened a new "business hub" in Austin, Texas.

"It is never easy finding someone to take over the reins of a company after this many years, but I cannot think of anyone better suited to guide the team as we look to the future," Weerasuriya said about Sams in a statement. "He is one of the most accomplished, respected and experienced leaders in our industry."
