Photoshop updated for Apple's G5

Software publisher Adobe Systems on Wednesday announced an update to its Photoshop image-editing software to optimize its use on Apple Computer's new Power Mac G5 systems. The update, for version 7.0.1 of Photoshop, alters many Photoshop operations so that they can take advantage of the G5's dual-processor configuration. Adobe said the update will let Photoshop run twice as fast on the G5 as it did on previous Apple computers.

Despite recent strains in the relationship between Apple and Adobe, Photoshop remains one of the key applications for Apple's core audience of creative professionals.
