Photos: Sony Ericsson unveils the W880i, K810i and others

Today Sony Ericsson unveiled more phones than ever before -- the W880i, K810i, W610i, K550i, K200i, K220i, J110i and J120i

Today Sony Ericsson announced nine new phones and put us out of our misery by finally unveiling the W880i Walkman phone. To date, Sony Ericsson has sold about 20 million Walkman phones and 4.5 million Cyber-shot phones. When asked what it thought about the incoming iPhone, the company responded by saying "we've been here for a lot longer".

Fortunately, time isn't the only thing Sony Ericsson has on its side. The W880i (pictured) is an attractive new Walkman phone that comes in a metal casing and features 3G connectivity, a 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth and an expandable memory slot (M2). At only 9.4mm thin it slips nicely into a pocket, and is Sony Ericsson's thinnest phone to date.

It will be in UK shops very soon and is set to be available globally.

The W610i Walkman phone is slightly thicker than the W880i at 14mm deep, and doesn't come with 3G connectivity. It does, however, come with a 2-megapixel camera with autofocus and an expandable memory slot (M2). Other features include stereo Bluetooth and EDGE (2.75G) connectivity. The W610i will be available later this year.

The W200 is a budget Walkman phone that comes with an expandable memory card slot, FM radio and a VGA camera. Other features include a speakerphone mode and infrared connectivity. It will be available later this year.

The K810i is the K800i's successor and features new keys on the front and a new soft-key system that converts the keys on the left side into camera keys. When you activate the camera, small camera-function symbols light up and you can use the 1, 4, 7 and * keys to change the camera's settings.

The rest of the feature set is pretty much the same as the K800i's, including the 3.2-megapixel camera on the back with autofocus and a xenon flash. There's also 3G connectivity, an expandable memory slot (M2) and FOTA (firmware upgrades over the air). It's due out very soon.

The K220i is a simple camera phone with a VGA camera and FM radio. It can store about 40 images and features a speakerphone mode, infrared and polyphonic ring tones. It will be available later this year.

The K200i is very similar to the K220i but doesn't come with an FM radio. It features a VGA camera, can store around 40 images and will be available later this year.

The K550i sits between the K810i and K220i, and has a 2-megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED photo light. Other features include an expandable memory slot and Bluetooth connectivity. It will be available very soon.

The J110i is a very simple handset that focuses on the absolute basics of calling and texting. It also has an impressive battery life, with up to 9 hours of talk time and 400 hours of standby time. It will be available later this year.

The J120i is similar to the J110i and is also focused on the basics, but comes with an FM radio. It, too, has an impressive battery life -- up to 9 hours of talk time and 400 hours of standby time -- and will be available later on in the year. -AL
