There's a new mobile player in town and he's shooting from the hip. Some call him the BenQ kid, others call him BenQ-Siemens, but here at Crave we're going to call him BQS. All you mobile phone manufacturers should watch out, because BQS isn't playing around, he's here to fight and he's not taking any prisoners.
This month BQS launches the GO Phone, which is an all-in-one package that includes a BenQ-Siemens S68, a Bluetooth headset and a mobile phone cradle. This package is designed for drivers and BQS claims it includes everything you need to drive and make calls safely.
The S68 is a mid-range tri-band candybar phone that looks like it has been designed with the same materials and style as the BenQ-Siemens EF81. It weighs only 78g and is 13mm thin. It doesn't include a camera, but as some companies don't allow you to use a camera phone this would make it a good business tool. Other features include a WAP browser, Bluetooth, a calendar, an alarm clock and a calculator.
The headset is the BenQ-Siemens HHB-710 and although the press release says it won a Red Dot Design Award this year, we're not sure why. It's not that easy to use and we don't think it looks great, although the judges obviously thought otherwise. However, considering how cheap the package is, you can't really complain.
The last device included in the box is the mobile phone cradle that can be stuck to the dashboard of your car with the provided adhesive pads or clipped to an air vent. The GO Phone package will be available from Phones4U on a T-Mobile contract, or for around £100 on pay as you go. Expect a full review soon. -AL
